Dinner will always need to be made. Work is not going anywhere. And unfortunately, we all have bills that will sit at the ready to be paid. Sometimes life can feel very robotic and like you are zooming from one thing to the next, almost in auto-pilot.
Even when we have something we are looking forward to, a show that we love or a book we cannot wait to get back into, sometimes we rush through life just to get to the joy. But what if we slowed down and searched for new, unfound pleasures on the way?
My client Anthony got me thinking when he shared this experience with me:
"You know, I was driving home yesterday from the city. I had the windows down. I wanted to get home to watch the basketball game. But I said, you know what, why am I rushing? I'm gonna be sitting home for the rest of the night so I need to be and just enjoy. Enjoy the beautiful weather. Enjoy the drive. What am I rushing for? So in that sense, slowing everything down has just made me appreciate life. It's made me appreciate where I am and where I'm going."
Wow, let me repeat this again… “It’s made me appreciate where I am and where I’m going.”
Soooo…. What are you rushing for?
I often remind myself and the people in my life that “I’m not in the rushing business” anymore. Here’s why: Reiki practice has taught me to slow down. To become present, one moment, one breath, at a time.
Reiki practice has the capacity to unlock an awareness inside of us. We can practice the art of not living in routines and rushed lists. Learning the practice and gaining a new appreciation for the present, you'll take the wind out of your anxiety's sails. This brings back into focus the idea that the only moment that we have control over is now, the present moment.
If you live with chronic pain or anxiety, I invite you to learn more about Reiki and the work we can do together. Let’s talk… I’d love to hear about your situation and see if I can help. You can book a complimentary Discovery Call with me here.
