Time to Stop

By Andrea Kartika Deierlein

November 8, 2024

It’s no secret that stress plays a major role in the imbalance and lack of energy you experience in daily life. You also know that over time, continued stress can weaken your body, immune system, and increase the risk of dis-ease.

It’s very simple: When energy is depleted, it needs to be replenished. Reiki is a gentle way of doing that - and helps us tap into the unlimited source of energy within us.

But as we’re moving closer to the end of 2024, you may find yourself speeding up and resenting – instead of slowing down and recharging.

Just to keep up, you may feel like you have to do more – in less time. While digital technology, smart devices, apps and other very useful tools can lead to increased productivity, they can also keep us in the tyranny of overwhelm.

Your most valuable resources are your attention and your time.

Yet, we live in a distraction economy and suffer from constant information overload. Journalist Oliver Burkeman even wrote that our attention is spammed all day long.

The book Free to Focus by Michael Hyatt teaches that “productivity is not about getting more things done; it’s about getting the right things done. It’s about starting each day with clarity and ending with a sense of satisfaction, accomplishment, and energy to spare.” The first step is to STOP.

Reiki has taught me that to focus on what really counts and matters, I need to STOP. To stop sweating the small stuff. To stop getting distracted by ideas, emotions, news headlines. To stop “What if” thinking. Making these choices brings me closer to balance and peace, regardless of what is happening outside of me.

PEACE is an achievement – and not something that happens magically. It’s a result of focus, choices, and discipline.

You, too, have a choice. Every day. Every moment even.

You can start. Right here. Right now. Or the next time you see a STOP sign.
