The turn of the seasons is a great reminder to shake off the sluggishness of winter and to reset your energy. As the body adjusts to changes in temperatures and activity, we’re invited to rebalance ourselves.
Reiki is not just for people who are in crisis or struggling. It’s an enjoyable way to relax, let go, and reset, which encourages and supports well-being. “Please take responsibility for the energy you bring into this space.” Wow, that’s a powerful message that hung on one of the doors at Indiana University Health (I saw this picture several years ago on LinkedIn.)
As humans, we are energetic beings. While our bodies are made of flesh and bones, we are also vibrational beings. A life force flows through our veins and cells. Acupuncture, Tai Chi and Qi Gong refer to this life force as Qi or Chi, Yoga and Ayurveda as Prana, and Reiki practice as Ki.
We’ve all experienced how experiences affect the energy flow in the body. Just think of the physical tension during anxiety, feeling stuck when things are not going the way you’d like them to, or the rising heat of anger.
Science has proven that the heart and brain generate measurable electromagnetic fields, also known as biofields, that extend beyond a person’s body. Even without any measuring devices or clinical research, I’m sure that there were moments in your life where you could feel tension in the air, for example before a storm or entering an uncomfortable situation in a room filled with anxiety.
And then there are environments, practices, and people that make us feel instantly calm. Here’s what Christine shared after her first Reiki session with me.
“I had my first Reiki experience with Andrea yesterday, and all I can say is WOW!! She was so warm, and really took the time to explain what Reiki is and how she works so I knew exactly what to expect.
