February 1 is Thrive Reiki’s birthday… Thank You for being a part of this journey!
Over the last 8 years, so many of you have shared their stories, struggles, and successes with me. The joys and the sorrows. The pain and the fears. The hopes and the dreams. Some of you even invited me to meet your spouses, children, parents, friends, colleagues. Thank you for your trust – and inviting me into your lives.
When I started Thrive Reiki in 2016, I embarked on a journey of connection and humility, which, to me, is the ability to be human.
In her book Untamed, Glennon Doyle writes that the word “humility” derives from the Latin word “humilitas,” which means “of the earth”.
To be humble is to be grounded in the here and now, to be rooted in reality. It’s a fertile ground to grow, reach out, bloom.
Self-care and success are works in process that teach humility. It’s about finding your balance between the doing and the being.
Sometimes I'm asked how Reiki found me or why I started Thrive Reiki. I already share my Reiki journey on my website, but here’s another piece of my story:
If I had not learned to balance my gifts of being highly organized and disciplined as well as creative and intuitive, Thrive Reiki would not exist. I thought that being an introvert and a highly sensitive person were burdens. Yet, it’s these very gifts that help me create a safe space for you and our work together.
Before Reiki came into my life, I didn't know of energetic hygiene and the need to restore balance in my system.
I felt exhausted and drained a lot, because I didn't know how to manage my own energetic reserves as well as my sensitivity. I wasn't even aware that the energy of other people affected me. My professional background spans from media and communications to government relations, writing speeches for the German Consul General, higher education marketing, pet care, and the architectural glass industry. The first person I interviewed was Bruce Willis when he promoted The Whole Nine Yards. It was a stressful experience. But then, instead of just focusing on The Fast and the Furious, Vin Diesel and I could have talked about philosophy for hours.
I am grateful for all these experiences, because they have allowed me to meet and work with people from all walks of life on three continents... I quickly saw that we’re all human beings and not just human doings, confined by our job titles or careers. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a Hollywood star, CEO, teacher, stay-at-home mom, or retired. Everybody and every body has an interesting story - and I am grateful for all the opportunities to listen, be present, and meet you where you are, right here and now.
May you experience well-being, peace and calm – today and every day.
