Happy 2022!
… Here we go again. Another year just passed and we’re fresh into a new calendar year.
I hope that you haven’t imposed New Year’s resolutions on yourself, which Lorna Bevan, an astrologer, refers to as an act of self-brutality.
Instead, I hope that you’ve honored the deep need for rest and recharging over the holidays. Cocooning and nurturing ourselves is what nature intends for us to do this time of year. Katherine May describes this process so beautifully in her book Wintering.
Today I’d like to share some perspective about intentions. The word alone may bring up some feelings of unease, especially pressure and guilt, because it can serve as a painful reminder of the gap between what you intended / wanted to do and what you actually did or didn’t do.
I discovered that setting intentions used to overwhelm me. That was because I set unrealistic expectations on myself, my energetic bandwith and resources. I needed to learn to assess, to take a realistic look of where I was, what I had, and where I wanted to go. I saw that my approach to setting intentions was more like wishful thinking, a desire for things to magically manifest out of thin air. Only when I read this quote by Celebra Tueli, I began to understand how I had set myself up for frustration and failure:
"Let me first be sure what I intend and the reasons for my choice; this will guide my thoughts into constructive channels, and keep me from attempting the impractical or impossible." - Celebra Tueli
Then I had to remember that time takes time… I hope you find this helpful too.
If learning Reiki is on your list of intentions, I’m teaching again this year. The first Reiki 1 class starts on March 27, 2022. Click here for more information.
Or if you’re looking for support and guidance for realizing your intentions, Dr. Brian Yodice and I are starting HEALTH-CHANGER, a free in-person workshop series, on March 8, 2022. Send me an email to be added to the waiting list.
As we begin this year, time of change and transformation…
May you cherish the moments that bring you alive.
May you live life one moment, one breath, one day, at a time.
May you rest and reset often.
May you stay focused on yourself and on your needs.
May you be at peace with yourself and where you are in your life.
May life unfold for you… for your highest good and the highest good of all…
