What if you were able to tap into your inner wisdom? What if you decided not to get distracted by all the conditions, comparisons and expectations that shape life? And instead placed attention on what can be changed, right here, right now?
In the system of Reiki, we have the precepts to help connect us to the present moment, to become mindful, and help shift attention and energy. No magic tricks required.
The Reiki precepts are the guidelines, foundation, and heart of Reiki practice:
Just for today
Do not anger
Do not worry
Be grateful
Be true to your way and your being
Show compassion for yourself and others.
Just for today can sound like a very long time. Sometimes it’s only possible to be present one jittery breath at a time.
But just for today can also translate to just for this one moment. Just for this one task. This makes it more manageable and brings mindfulness into everyday situations.
When there is less anger, calmness can emerge. When there is less worry, focus can appear. When there’s gratitude, smiles come easier. When there are truth and integrity, honesty and values speak. When there is compassion, sharing can become caring.
You don’t have to be trained in Reiki in order to shift energy. Although it helps to have the skills to tune in, guide, and manage your own (and other’s) energy ;-)
Just for today… why not turn to the precepts when you need to refocus your attention or energy?
